The Seattle King County NAACP launches the 2022 Membership Drive "Join for Justice" on Friday, February 25th. Prospective members can join online at seattlekingcountynaacp.org.
"Our membership drive theme is Join for Justice because the work of ending racial injustice in our community is not over." says President Carolyn Riley-Payne, "We need community members to not only be card carrying members but actively participate. We are still fighting for you!"
The branch is the oldest civil rights organization in the region and is 100% volunteer-run. NAACP members advocate for laws and policies that support the community, as well as support access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
The membership drive is important because 2022 is an election year for the Seattle King County branch. Candidates for officer or executive committee positions must be bona fide members by April 1st to be eligible for the ballot in November. Community members interested in officer positions are encouraged to join before the April 1st deadline and to attend monthly membership meetings.
Membership makes a difference and there is no better time to join or renew.
