Washington is Buying $24 Million worth of Computer Technology for Students
Nov 12, 2020
"Perhaps soon the glaring issue of the technology gap will be, at least temporarily, patched," our NAACP Education Committee says. "However I am concerned by the realization that students, especially those in lower-income areas, have been stranded since September. It makes [us] worried about the severity of impact on their learning, and curious about what the long-term plan of support is for these districts."
Washington state will use 42 million from its share of the federal CARES Act stimulus package to buy 64,000 computer devices in bulk for school districts that have been unable to afford devices or have been struggling with delayed shipments. Via The Seattle Times:

Tax Measure to Fund buses and Transit could have significant Impacts in the South End
Nov 9, 2020
A revamped version of 2014 Proposition 1, the current Proposition 1 on ballots will put more focus on helping people in South King County and suburban areas that have found themselves pushed out of the city due to Covid-19. The money will be raised by a 0.15% sales tax and is expected to earn 42 million per year. The funds will be split between transit infrastructure (9 million a year, eventually 3 a year), emergency needs related to Covid (9 million a year), and supporting transit access for low-income people, youth, low-income essential workers, seniors, and a free ORCA card program for students (10 million a year).
